The Client wish to have a kindergarten design for 1.5 - 5 years old children, with the recognition that a learning environment is very significant for child development physically and mentally. With Reggio Emilia approach as the core philosophy, the learning environment is therefore very significant since it can be designed to enhance the child’s sense of exploration.

With existing site’s unique assets, rain trees, which are large shading trees, they were kept as one of the drivers for kids to interact more and learn from the natural world in urban environment.

The kindergarten is designed to creep under the existing rain trees, generating two inner courts, with gaps to allow wind to flow through, providing naturally ventilated walkway.

All classrooms are filled with abundant daylight and can be fully openable, connected the room to the semi indoor-outdoor space, and then to the outdoor shaded courtyard.
