Boonyamanond project is designed for an extended family, consisting of two houses connected by a large courtyard, with shared exercise room and pool area. The project is located in a low-density neighborhood and ventilation simulations have shown that, with potential future development on neighboring sites, some winds can still get into the house from the south and southeast. The house on the windward side is shifted westward to provide a wind path to reach another house as well. The living area of both houses are oriented north-south to minimize solar heat and separated with enough in-between space for ventilation and privacy of the residents. The house massing has been designed to implicitly block strong sunlight beaming into the courtyard. Long overhangs help to provide extra shades to ensure year-round tropical comfort.
